Gleiss Lutz advises Pioneer Point Partners on the acquisition of WCG Wärme Contracting GmbH

Gleiss Lutz has advised Pioneer Point Partners LLP (“Pioneer”), an investment company specializing in sustainable infrastructure, on the acquisition and financing of WCG Wärme Contracting GmbH (“WCG”), a leading provider in the German heat contracting market, from EWE Vertrieb GmbH.

As part of the transaction, Pioneer and WCG entered into an ESG-linked loan agreement with Allianz Global Investors, which covers both the acquisition financing and a credit line for future investments.

With this acquisition, Pioneer aims to support the company in its next phase of growth, expand its geographic presence, and capitalize on the rising demand for heat contracting solutions.

Founded in 2008, Pioneer is a London-based European investor in sustainable infrastructure whose funds focus on value-add investments in lower-mid-market companies in the energy transition and environmental sectors across Western Europe.

WCG is one of Germany’s leading providers of residential heating contracting. The company serves approximately 21,000 customers in predominantly rural regions through an integrated “Heat-as-a-Service” model.
