Working as a research assistant can be a meaningful complement to your legal training. Whether you’re pursuing a doctorate, bridging a waiting period, or still completing your law degree or practical legal training – at Gleiss Lutz, you’ll gain early hands-on experience at an internationally renowned major law firm.
You’ll support the team directly on client matters, deepen your expertise and develop personally in a flexible, professional and supportive environment.
We hire research assistants throughout the year at all our German offices in selected practice areas subject to demand.
Experience law-firm life up close and get a sense of what legal practice looks like. Our five-week internship programme offers authentic insight, personal support and stimulating challenges.

One Step Ahead LL.M. scholarship
An LL.M. abroad is your gateway to gaining international expertise and strong networks. Our One Step Ahead LL.M. scholarship will help you get there. Each year, we award four partial scholarships to outstanding young lawyers who want to complete an English-language Master’s programme abroad. Our scholarship opens doors around the world.
The scholarship is aimed at law students and graduates as well as (former) interns, trainee lawyers and research assistants. Applications close 31 January each year.
Academic specialisation – doctorate and LL.M.
A doctorate or LL.M. gives you the opportunity to deepen your legal expertise and develop your academic skills. We support your journey with a dedicated model that includes financial support and up to a year’s leave of absence.
Whether straight after your exams or alongside your work as a lawyer, you decide when the right time is for your academic development.
