Gleiss Lutz has advised funds advised by iCON Infrastructure LLP (iCON) and their portfolio company Strategic Fiber Networks GmbH (SFN) on the acquisition of Northern Fiber Holding GmbH (Northern Fiber), a fiber network operator serving rural and semi-urban communities across Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia. Operating under the Lünecom and sewikom brands, NFH manages both owned and leased fiber networks and provides a full suite of high-speed fiber services to residential and business customers.
iCON is an award-winning, independent investment firm managing funds with over USD 12 billion of capital, focused on making long-term equity investments in private, mid-market infrastructure businesses located in Europe and North America.
SFN is an independent, vertically integrated fiber and cable telecommunications business headquartered in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. SFN operates across Baden-Württemberg and Lower Saxony through its consumer brands “Das bessere Netz” (DBN), alongside Wisotel and Northern Access.
The transaction is expected to complete in H2 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
