Gleiss Lutz advises the Japanese pump manufacturer Nikkiso on the acquisition of Lewa GmbH

Gleiss Lutz has advised the Japan-based Nikkiso Co. Ltd. on the acquisition of Lewa GmbH. Until now, the shares in Lewa GmbH have been held by the private equity companies Deutsche Beteiligungs AG and Quadriga Capital as well as by the Lewa management. The parties involved signed the relevant sales contract on Monday, July 6, 2009. The transaction is still subject to approval by the Federal Cartel Authority.

Lewa GmbH develops, manufactures and globally markets high-performance metering and process diaphragm pumps and complete pump systems. In 2008, Lewa generated sales of nearly 143 million euros.

In addition to pumps, Nikkiso also manufactures medical equipment and components used in aviation. Headquartered in Tokyo, this listed company generated sales of some 550 million euros with a staff of almost 4,000 in 2008.
