Discussions and networking

Saskia and Florian describe the retreat as “an inspiring weekend that really encouraged meaningful discussions and strong networking”. People really appreciated the variety of exchanges – from in-depth conversations in small groups to broader discussion formats.

A key element was the dialogue with the HR partners. In an open and constructive setting, they talked about career paths, development opportunities, and current projects within the firm. The retreat also offered deeper insights into the firm’s strategic direction. “The conversations about new developments in the firm – especially around career prospects –stood out in particular,” says Florian. People also learned more about existing opportunities, including training sessions, involvement in initiatives, and international secondments that offer the chance to build international networks.

„The discussions about AI and international projects felt particularly relevant and directly connected to our everyday work.“

Innovative formats and inspiring insights

One of the programme’s new features was an interactive workshop session. In rotating small group sessions, participants discussed cutting-edge topics – from the use of AI in case work, approaches to project management, and international collaboration. Saskia sums it up as “a fantastic opportunity to learn a great deal from one another and share experiences”. Florian adds: “The discussions about AI and international projects felt particularly relevant and directly connected to our everyday work.”

A special highlight was the keynote by Dr. Felix Brych, lawyer and former FIFA referee, who offered compelling insights into how he stays focused and composed even in high-pressure situations. “What fascinated me most was his view that the subconscious often makes quicker and better decisions – and that you can actively train this ability to benefit both your work and personal life,” Saskia reflects.

Team spirit and shared moments

The outdoor team-building activities created the perfect environment to connect and build new relationships. “The activities were varied and made it easy to get to know new colleagues quickly,” Florian explains. Saskia adds: “Cornhole, badminton, and mixing mocktails were a lot of fun in particular and really boosted our team spirit.”

The retreat concluded with a stylish themed evening, “The Golden 20s – Swing is King.” With live music, beautiful decorations, and the summer warmth of the castle courtyard, participants enjoyed an elegant close to the weekend. “It was the perfect setting to continue conversations and reflect on everything we’d experienced over the weekend,” say Saskia and Florian.

The 2025 AP Retreat at Schloss Krickenbeck was a resounding success, offering a weekend to remember – full of inspiration, discussion and shared experiences.
