Gleiss Lutz advises E.ON on action for damages in connection with closure of nuclear power plants

On 1 October 2014 E.ON brought an action before the Hanover District Court for compensation of damage caused by the moratorium ordering the closure of the Unterweser and Isar 1 nuclear power plants in March 2011. The closure resulted in losses of around EUR 380 million. The action is directed against the responsible ministries in Lower Saxony and Bavaria as well as the Federal Ministry for the Environment. An out-of-court settlement had already been rejected.

E.ON was advised by the following team of Gleiss Lutz lawyers: Dr. Detlef Schmidt (partner, civil business law), Prof. Dr. Christoph Moench (partner, public law), Dr. Marc Ruttloff (public law) and Dr. Micha Pfarr (civil business law) (all Berlin).

Prof. Dr. Christoph Moench and Dr. Marc Ruttloff had already advised E.ON on its constitutional complaint.
