Fraud alert: Premium brand cars from an insolvency – scammers pretending to be Gleiss Lutz employees

Fraudulent e-mails have recently been sent under Gleiss Lutz’s name. Many of these are currently offering supposed deals on vehicles left over from an insolvent party’s assets, falsely identifying Gleiss Lutz as the sender. These messages do not come from Gleiss Lutz. In some e-mails, the scammers use our name and modified e-mail addresses, laying out the e-mail to resemble our corporate design. Further scamming attempts in various forms can be expected.

Please pay extra attention when you receive e-mails apparently from Gleiss Lutz but not relating to matters you would expect them to. Please look carefully at the ending of the sender’s e-mail address, as the immediately visible name of the sender is easy to fake. In cases of doubt, do not open attachments or links and do not disclose personal or confidential information.

Further important note

There has been an increase in phishing e-mails that have been made to look like they were sent by Gleiss Lutz. The senders pretend to be employees of Gleiss Lutz and are making claims of alleged copyright infringement. The e-mails use Gleiss Lutz’s corporate design. They  may contain attachments with malicious code.  It is likely that further variants of phishing e-mails with fake e-mail addresses and other “hooks” will surface in the future.

Please be careful if you receive e-mails from Gleiss Lutz that seem unusual. Pay particular attention to the e-mail address from which the messages were sent. It is important that you check the spelling of the domain name used in the sender address and not the sender’s display name, which can easily be faked. If in doubt, do not open the e-mail or any file attachments and do not click on any suspicious links. Do not send any personal or confidential data if you are not familiar with the subject of a message or if you have any other reason to doubt who it was sent by.
