Strategic development: Gleiss Lutz appoints two partners and five counsel

Gleiss Lutz has appointed two new partners and five new counsel as of 1 January 2021. With these new appointments, the firm continues its strategic focus on advising on complex interdisciplinary issues. Dr. Marcus Reischl (Corporate/Compliance, Frankfurt) and Dr. Luidger Röckrath (Dispute Resolution, Munich) have been appointed partners. Promoted to the role of counsel are Melanie Barwich (Corporate), Dr. Timo Bühler (Banking and Finance/Regulatory), Konrad H.J. Discher (M&A/Real Estate, all Frankfurt), Dr. Johannes Culmann (Corporate, Stuttgart) and Dr. Eva Koch (Public Law, Düsseldorf).

“We look forward to continuing to collaborate with our new partners and counsel to jointly shape the firm’s success. Gleiss Lutz expresses its congratulations and is proud of the seven appointments from its own ranks,” comments Prof. Dr. Michael Arnold, co-managing partner of Gleiss Lutz. “Great commitment, legal excellence and interdisciplinary thinking - these qualities represent our new partners and counsel to the highest degree. We are thus further strengthening our client offering in highly complex mandates,” explains co-managing partner Dr. Alexander Schwarz.

The firm is expanding its Advisory practice with Dr. Marcus Reischl as a new partner and with the two corporate lawyers Melanie Barwich and Dr. Johannes Culmann as well as the public law specialist Dr. Eva Koch as counsel. Marcus Reischl advises clients on strategic compliance matters as well as compliance-related disputes. He regularly advises companies on internal investigations to detect irregularities and their consequences, in particular with regard to judicial and extra-judicial disputes with business partners and directors and officers and also on cooperating with authorities. In April 2020 he was recognised by the renowned publication Global Investigations Review as one of the leading “40 Under 40” investigations specialists in the world. Melanie Barwich advises clients on corporate and capital markets law. She specialises in issues involving D&O liability. She also advises companies on IPOs and capital increases. With Johannes Culmann, a further corporate lawyer has been appointed counsel, who, in addition to advising on corporate and capital markets law, focuses on conducting litigation with a corporate focus. The firm’s Public Law practice is strengthened by Eva Koch, an expert for foreign trade law and export control as well as for environmental law, subsidies and state aid.

In Regulatory & Litigation, Dr. Luidger Röckrath, an experienced dispute resolution expert in the Gleiss Lutz Munich office, has been made partner. He mainly advises on disputes related to corporate, insolvency, cartel, banking and capital markets. Three new partners and two counsel have already reinforced the Regulatory & Litigation unit in 2020.

In 2021 Dr. Timo Bühler and Konrad H.J. Discher, both counsel, will be expanding the ranks in Transactions. Timo Bühler will be reinforcing the Banking and Finance practice in Frankfurt. He advises financial institutions on regulatory issues in connection with strategic matters, in particular mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganisations, compliance systems, regulatory fine and enforcement proceedings along with restructurings. Konrad H.J. Discher advises on real estate law matters, in particular on preparing, structuring and realising real estate transactions. He also focuses on commercial lease law, as well as general contract and civil law.
