Trendence Graduate Barometer: Gleiss Lutz among the three most popular law firms for young legal talent

Gleiss Lutz is one of the three most attractive major law firms for the next generation of legal talent according to the Trendence Graduate Barometer 2018. The firm came sixth in the overall ranking of favourite employers, so is again one of the top ten. The Federal Foreign Office is the top favourite as in previous years.

Dr. Simon Mamerow of the Trendence Institute explained why Gleiss Lutz - one of the few law firms to have improved its ranking - is so popular: “Gleiss Lutz has managed to avoid the downward trend that other firms are experiencing. Its activities have proved their effectiveness. Gleiss Lutz is thus one of the few exceptions among this years’ law firms and was able to move ahead of rivals Clifford Chance and Linklaters.”

“We are delighted to belong to the top three law firms for young lawyers this year. Our initiatives aimed at offering highly qualified young legal talent an attractive working environment and exciting challenges have clearly met with success,” commented Dr. Alexander Schwarz, Co-Managing Partner of Gleiss Lutz. “In addition to flexible working hours and sabbaticals, we are paying increasing attention to diversity and attach a great deal of importance to promoting talent and providing personal support right from the outset.”

Trendence, one of Europe’s leading institutions in the areas of employer branding, HR marketing and recruiting, interviews 2,200 of the young legal talent, including students, legal trainees and fully qualified young lawyers, for the Trendence Graduate Barometer every year.

In addition, the IURRATIO Job Awards for the best employers for legal trainees were presented for the first time in October. Gleiss Lutz came fourth in the overall ranking of employers across Germany and took first place in the category “Best Employer for Legal Trainees 2019” for its Stuttgart site. “This encouraging result also reflects the large amount of positive feedback we have received from our trainees,” said Dr. Alexander Schwarz. “They explicitly praise their integration into the team and the support they receive, in particular.”
