On March 29, 2007 Syngenta announced the purchase of the Fischer Group headquartered in Hillscheid, Germany. The deal is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2007. It has yet to be approved by the supervisory authorities. The deal is worth USD 67 millions.
Syngenta is a leading global agribusiness with a workforce of more than 19,000 in over 90 countries around the world. Fischer distributes flowers and ornamental plants and specialises in plant breeding and marketing. Fischer is therefore an ideal complement to Syngenta’s portfolio.
