Gleiss Lutz advises on insolvency of Frankfurter Rundschau

Die Druck- und Verlagshaus Frankfurt am Main GmbH, Herausgeberin und Verlegerin der „Frankfurter Rundschau“, hat Insolvenz beim Amtsgericht Frankfurt angemeldet. Im Vorfeld wurde das Verlagshaus von einem Gleiss Lutz-Team zu Restrukturierungsthemen und bei der Vorbereitung des Insolvenzantrags unterstützt.

Druck- und Verlagshaus Frankfurt am Main GmbH, owner and publisher of German broadsheet “Frankfurter Rundschau” has filed for insolvency with Frankfurt Local Court. Ahead of the filing, a team of Gleiss Lutz lawyers advised the publisher on restructuring issues and assisted with preparing the insolvency request.

“Frankfurter Rundschau” has been generating losses for years. Approximately 500 employees are affected by the insolvency.

Cologne-based media group M. DuMont Schauberg has a 50 per cent stake (and one voting right) in Druck- und Verlagshaus Frankfurt am Main, while DDVG – the media holding associated with Germany's Social Democratic Party (SPD) – holds 40 of shares. The remaining shares are held by the Karl-Gerold-Stiftung, a foundation named after one of the newspaper’s late founders.
