At the 2016 JUVE Awards ceremony Gleiss Lutz was awarded the title of “Law Firm of the Year for Banking and Finance”. The firm also took home the award for “Law Firm of the Year for Compliance Investigations” at this year’s event, held at Frankfurt’s prestigious Old Opera House.
Dr. Alexander Schwarz, Managing Partner of Gleiss Lutz: “We are very happy with these significant achievements. The awards demonstrate that clients and industry insiders alike value our legal advice. We see this as confirmation of our focus on providing legal excellence, full service in all areas of business law and maintaining a close personal relationship with our clients.”
In announcing the award for “Law Firm of the Year for Banking and Finance”, JUVE commented as follows: “The way the firm has closed the gap with the competition over the past two years is simply impressive ... Gleiss Lutz is a serious new contender to leading banking law firms.”
The practice’s roughly 25 lawyers advise banks and large and medium-sized domestic and foreign enterprises on all aspects of banking and finance. It specialises in assisting clients with syndicated lending, in particular acquisition, real estate and project financing. The firm also advises clients on refinancings and restructurings as well as on banking and insurance regulatory law.
The core competence of Gleiss Lutz’s compliance & investigations practice is identifying and reviewing compliance violations in multi-layered - and often international - corporate structures and complex matters within the scope of internal investigations. Advising directors and officers as well as corporate bodies also play a major role in this regard.
The JUVE Awards are seen as the most important industry award on the German legal market. In selecting the award winners, JUVE bases its decision on surveys of clients, competitors, young legal professionals and judges. Apart from outstanding expertise, criteria included a firm’s strategic focus, client orientation and business prospects. Awards were presented in a total of 18 categories.
