At the JUVE Awards ceremony held in Frankfurt on November 7, 2008, Gleiss Lutz picked up the award for “Law firm of the year for energy law”. Every year, publisher JUVE honours outstanding law firms and teams based on specialist expertise, strategic alignment, service orientation and future potential.
The award recognises the successful development of Gleiss Lutz’ energy practice. Its “Energy and Natural Resources” focus group combines the widespread experience and expertise of lawyers from different specialist areas and sites. Its clients include the four largest German energy providers, their holdings and large municipal utilities as well as international investors. In 2008, Gleiss’ energy team advised Blackstone on the first venture by a major private equity investor into the German wind energy sector, represented approximately 40 grid operators in complaint proceedings regarding grid fees and advised the affected industries on questions of emissions trading.
Earlier this year Gleiss Lutz had already been named “German Law Firm of the Year” at the IFLR European Awards. The law firm also won two further awards in the categories “Private Equity Deal of the Year” and “Restructuring Deal of the Year”.
