Gleiss Lutz has advised Meyer Werft GmbH (MEYER WERFT) on a major contract with the cruise line MSC Cruises S.A. (MSC Cruises) regarding the construction of up to six cruise vessels totalling EUR 10 billion.
MEYER WERFT, MSC Cruises, together with the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of Lower Saxony as shareholders, have signed an agreement regarding the construction of four cruise vessels of the new “New Frontier” class, with two additional options.
The order will secure full capacity at the shipyard well into the next decade.
With a maximum passenger capacity of 5,400 and approximately 180,000 gross tons, the “New Frontier” ships will be delivered annually starting in 2030.
