Gleiss Lutz advises L-3 Communications on acquisition of Funa

Gleiss Lutz has advised US technology development firm L-3 Communications on the acquisition of Funa International GmbH and its subsidiaries.

Funa Group is a leading supplier of control and safety systems, communication systems and entertainment solutions, mainly for cruise ships, ferries and mega yachts. Funa Group also equips offshore wind turbines with fire detection and suppression systems. FUNA Group is expected to generate approximately USD 60 million of sales for the financial year 2011.

Funa Group will be included in the L-3 Communications’ Marine and Power Systems Group. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Gleiss Lutz regularly advises L-3 Communications on transactions in the German market. The US group headquartered in New York specialises in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems. With 66,000 employees, L-3 generated USD 15.6 billion in revenues in 2009.
