Gerhard advises and represents clients in collective and individual employment law matters. His practice focuses primarily on labour law in connection with corporate transactions and restructurings. Additionally, he regularly supports clients in negotiations with works councils and trade unions and advises on matters pertaining to the codetermination rights of both employees (e.g. in supervisory boards) and works councils. Gerhard has great experience in industrial relations management.
Gerhard studied at the universities of Tübingen and Freiburg. He was a partner at Gleiss Lutz from 1987 to 2019. Since 2020, he has been an Of Counsel. Gerhard is a certified labour law attorney and has been a honorary professor at the University of Freiburg since 1995.
Gerhard is a member of the Company Pensions Working Group, the German Bar Association’s Labour Law Working Group, the employment lawyers’ association “fachanwalt forum arbeitsrecht (ffa)”, the International Bar Association (IBA), the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA) and editor of the Labor & Employment Bulletin (USA), selected as one of Germany’s leading business lawyers for employment in Who’s Who Legal since many years.
