Gleiss Lutz secures full dismissal of action on merchant fees for girocard payments for Postbank

Gleiss Lutz has secured the full dismissal of an action brought against Postbank (which has since been merged into Deutsche Bank) before Berlin Regional Court concerning merchant fees for girocard payments (judgment of 2 March 2023, case 16 O 309/17 Kart). The service station operator JET sued for damages of around EUR 33 million in an antitrust case concerning merchant fees for payment transactions made by girocard (formerly EC card). The case is one of 11 lawsuits against credit industry associations. Of these, seven were completely dismissed and four achieved only minor success.
