Continued Growth at Gleiss Lutz: Six New Partners appointed as of 1 January 2010

Gleiss Lutz announces the election of six new partners: Martin Hitzer (Düsseldorf), Dr. Cornelia Topf (Frankfurt) and Dr. Jochen Tyrolt (Stuttgart) (all corporate/M&A); Dr. Maximilian von Rom (Frankfurt) (banking and finance); Dr. Martin Raible (Stuttgart/Düsseldorf) (antitrust), and Dr. Alexander Werder (Stuttgart) (tax). The appointments take effect from 1 January 2010.

Managing partner Dr. Rainer Loges comments: “These appointments will help to grow and further strengthen important practice areas of the firm.” The recently opened Düsseldorf office will also be bolstered with the additions of Martin Hitzer and Martin Raible, who is relocating from Stuttgart. This will bring the total number of partners in Düsseldorf to nine.

The newly elected partners are:

Martin Hitzer specialises in mergers and acquisitions, notably of listed companies. He also advises on joint ventures and corporate group law. He has advised many leading companies, among others, he advised IDS Scheer on the public takeover bid by Software AG – one of the year’s largest public takeovers.

Dr. Cornelia Topf specialises in corporate/M&A and restructuring, with a focus on international M&A transactions. Among others, she advised Blackstone on a joint venture for one of the largest wind turbine projects in the North Sea, and Nikkiso Co., Ltd. on its acquisition of the LEWA Group.

Dr. Jochen Tyrolt specialises in M&A, with a focus on private equity transactions and public takeovers. He has advised Blackstone, Triton and Tomkin, among others, and recently assisted Robert Bosch GmbH in various transactions, including its purchase of aleo solar AG.

Dr. Maximilian von Rom specialises in banking, finance and capital markets, especially acquisition financing, syndicated loans and banking regulation. He was recently part of the Gleiss Lutz team that advised Magna on the planned takeover of Opel.

Dr. Martin Raible will be relocating from Stuttgart to Düsseldorf in 2010, where he will advise clients on German and European antitrust law. He specialises in merger control, civil antitrust proceedings, administrative fine proceedings, and compliance issues. Among others, Martin Raible advises and represents major players in the energy market. He also has wide experience of European law and international economic law (investment protection, foreign trade/WTO).

Dr. Alexander Werder specialises in national and international tax law, with a focus on M&A and reorganisations, turnarounds and insolvency, as well as corporate succession planning. Among others, he advised Robert Bosch GmbH on the sale of Blaupunkt.
