Gleiss Lutz successfully advises Bank of Ireland in state aid procedure at the European Commission

Gleiss Lutz has successfully advised Bank of Ireland (BoI) in a major state aid procedure at the European Commission: The EU Commission has found the second restructuring plan of BoI to be in line with EU state aid rules. The decision grants definitive approval to the various support measures in favour of BoI (recapitalisation, guarantees and asset relief).

A first restructuring plan was already approved on 15 July 2010. However, in view of the economic situation in Ireland, this first restructuring plan proved to be insufficient.

The case has been handled by Ulrich Soltész (partner) and Christian von Koeckritz (both EU State aid, Brussels).

For many years Gleiss Lutz has been an important player in the field of EU State aid law. The firm has been particularly active in restructuring cases during the financial crisis.

Gleiss Lutz ist seit vielen Jahren in großem Umfang im EU-Beihilferecht tätig. Einen besonderen Schwerpunkt bildeten hierbei in den letzten Jahren Umstrukturierungsfälle in der Finanzkrise.
