2017 PMN Awards: Dual Accolades for Gleiss Lutz

The 9th PMN Management Awards ceremony saw Gleiss Lutz being honoured in two categories, business development and technology. Each year Professional Network Management, or PMN, awards prizes to management and business services experts in the legal profession.

Optimus, the project that topped the business development category, won over the jury with its aim of ensuring maximum efficiency through standardisation and digitalisation over the entire “life cycle” of a case. The jury said in its statement that “the law firm had laid the foundations for a digitalised and innovative working environment” with extensive process analysis and optimisation at the levels of operations and technology. The project is made up of eight subprojects, among them a digitalised business intake process and special apps, e.g. for staffing and project controlling within cases.

Alongside the winning project Optimus, VARI was also runner-up in the technology category. The Virtueller Assistent für Rechtsinformationen/VARI (Virtual Assistant for Legal Information) automates the highly complex process of collating sets of annexes which summarise for the client the court rulings, essays, laws and regulations cited in pleadings, expert reports and opinions. This tool offers significant time savings and automates a service that clients find very useful.

“Digitalisation and automation, as well as the use of artificial intelligence in the provision of legal services, are important topics for us going forward, and ones that are part and parcel of the clear strategy we have developed. Innovative projects are the result, as demonstrated by those honoured here,” commented Dr. Alexander Schwarz, co-managing partner of Gleiss Lutz. “New technologies give us the opportunity to further enhance our efficiency in working with our clients.”
