Gleiss Lutz elects new managing partners and senior partner

Gleiss Lutz’s partnership has elected Dr. Ralf Morshäuser and Dr. Johann Wagner as the firm’s new managing partners. From 1 January 2024, they will be taking over from Prof. Dr. Michael Arnold and Dr. Alexander Schwarz, who have jointly led the firm since 2016 and whose term ends on 31 December 2023. The partnership also appointed Prof. Dr. Michael Arnold as the firm’s new senior partner.

“Another key to sustaining our path to success is that we continue to attract and develop the best young talent in the future and offer a modern, inspiring and supportive environment in which they can grow to become the leading advisors of tomorrow” added Dr. Johann Wagner, who will also take over from Dr. Alexander Schwarz as the firm’s HR partner.

Together, we have all accomplished a great deal,” said Dr. Alexander Schwarz and Prof. Dr. Michael Arnold, as the end of their term as managing partners approaches.

Prof. Dr. Michael Arnold has been appointed successor to Dr. Christian Cascante as the firm’s senior partner and chairman of the partnership council. Prof. Dr. Michael Arnold: “I look forward to continuing to help grow and develop the firm in my role as the firm’s senior partner.”

Dr. Ralf Morshäuser is currently co-head of the Transactions core business unit and head of M&A at Gleiss Lutz. He has been a partner at the Munich office since 2007 and advises national and international companies as well as financial investors on cross-border M&A transactions.

Dr. Johann Wagner, who will remain on Gleiss Lutz’s partnership council until the end of the year, has played a key role in establishing and expanding Gleiss Lutz’s Hamburg office in recent years. He leads the office’s Tax team, which primarily advises on transactions and restructurings. He has been a partner since 2013.
