Best in Germany: Gleiss Lutz wins two awards for its commitment to diversity

Gleiss Lutz received two awards at this year’s European Women in Business Law Awards, organized by the Euromoney Legal Media Group. The firm was named “Best national firm – Germany” and also received an award for the “Best gender diversity initiative by national firm” for its “Gleiss Lutz – Women in Business” initiative.

“These awards are a great success for us and show that diversity is underway at Gleiss Lutz”, said Petra Linsmeier, partner, who received the awards on behalf of Gleiss Lutz in London. The firm was further nominated in the categories “Best national firm for women in business law” and “Best national firm for work-life balance”.

In early 2013 Gleiss Lutz launched the “Gleiss Lutz – Women in Business” initiative, which includes: mentoring evenings for female law students, internal activities, as well as networking events for female clients. The law firm is thus targeting support of younger talents among women and supports female lawyers in creating and expanding their professional and personal networks.

Continuous improvement of diversity and work-life balance is an ongoing concern of Gleiss Lutz. The firm offers its employees various options to enable them to structure their working hours as flexibly as possible, including a range of part-time working models and the possibility of working from home (home office). And has done for some time now: Gleiss Lutz was the first leading law firm in Germany to enable women to become partners part-time and thus set new standards in the industry. Since January 2014, associates and associated partners on the way to becoming partners or counsel have had the opportunity to take a one-month sabbatical on two occasions while continuing to receive their salary in full.
