History

A pioneering tradition

In 1949 Alfred Gleiss laid the foundation for what is now one of the highest-profile internationally active law firms in Germany. He believed in the values of excellence, individuality, a spirit of partnership, and internationalism. These have been the basis for our success for over 60 years. They remain at the heart of our firm’s unique culture.

From its beginnings as an antitrust boutique, working throughout West Germany from its Stuttgart office, Gleiss Lutz has evolved into a full-service law firm with over 300 lawyers in seven offices, advising on all areas of business law – both domestically and internationally.
