- Burkard advises companies in both domestic and cross-border transactions and restructurings with a special focus on compliance investigations, anti-discrimination, data protection and cross-border litigation. He is the Gleiss Lutz Territory Partner for China and South-East Asia.
- He studied at the universities of Passau, Geneva and Munich along with Columbia University Law School (LL.M. 1993). He has been a partner at Gleiss Lutz since 2002. Burkard was the first local partner at the former Warsaw office of Gleiss Lutz in 1999 and gained experience in litigation and dealing with Eastern European contracting parties during that time. Burkard is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA), German-American Lawyers’ Association (DAJV), International Insolvency Institute (iii), INSOL and the Tönissteiner Kreis. He is a member of the editorial advisory board of the journal “Neue Zeitschrift für Compliance im Unternehmen” und co-editor of the Labor & Employment Bulletin (USA). He is a certified labour law attorney. He speaks German, English and French.
