Public/administrative law has always been a cornerstone of our practice at Gleiss Lutz. Hardly any other large firm possesses comparable competence in all questions of public commercial law. Our practice includes project development under public law, sector planning, environmental and economic administration law in general, energy, subsidies, public procurement and health care law.
A particular emphasis of ours is assisting with project development, such as the establishment of commercial, industrial and large retail operations/FOCs. In the construction of housing developments, we work in close cooperation with our law firm’s partners in real estate to jointly provide guidance on all questions of building law and planning law. We deal with questions of regional planning, the drawing up or amendment of zoning and development plans, town planning contracts with municipalities and advising on building permit procedures. Closely connected to these, but also of independent significance, is environmental law. In this area our partners are highly regarded for having vast experience in dealing with authorities, professional planners and experts. However, we also have extensive experience in litigation, in particular before the Federal Administrative Court and Federal Constitutional Court.
Another emphasis of our work is consultation in connection with legislative processes: associations, and even the legislature itself, often rely on our expertise when a bill needs to be examined or formulated.
Our clients come from all areas of the economy – from medium sized businesses to companies listed on the DAX, from Germany and from abroad. In addition, we advise the government (the Federal Government, the states, municipalities, as well as the European Commission) and numerous associations on diverse questions of public commercial law.
