Our trial lawyers are admitted to plead before all courts at the trial and at the appellate level throughout Germany. In addition, we offer a wide range of other litigation-related services such as internal investigations, strategy planning, assistance in crisis communication, litigation monitoring, and advice on insurance coverage and litigation financing.
Gleiss Lutz has vast experience in complex commercial litigation. We concentrate,
inter alia, on the defense against class actions and on mass litigation. We are one of the first law firms in Germany to act for a corporate defendant in a class action under the new German Law on Model Proceedings for Investment Suits (
Kapitalanleger-Musterverfahrensgesetz – KapMuG). Other areas of expertise are corporate and financial services litigation, takeover litigation, M&A-related disputes, energy law, product liability, insolvency-related disputes, and commercial contracts.A substantial part of our litigation practice relates to matters with an international angle. We regularly act in cross-border disputes, in particular in relation to the USA. Besides advising and representing foreign parties in Germany, we often assist lawyers from other countries in proceedings before their domestic courts, e.g. as foreign law experts or in evidence-taking exercises in Germany. By using our foreign offices and the established relationships with high-quality law firms abroad, we can cover all relevant jurisdictions world-wide. As a non-merged law firm, we are free to allow for the client’s specific wishes and for specific circumstances of the case when selecting local lawyers abroad.
